Drabble: Not What Was Expected

Holmes’ investigation had led us to a club that provided for the needs of discerning gentlemen.  Whilst he was making his enquiries I permitted myself the opportunity to appraise the ladies who were employed there.  One in particular caught my eye, a tall young thing with very beautiful hair.  I debated whether it would be possible to invite her out for supper.  However, when I went to her dressing room I was horrified to see a wig on the stand and a young man removing his make-up.  And then I heard Holmes remark drolly, “My dear Watson, that’s no lady.”
