The trip to Whipsnade had gone surprisingly well.  Lestrade had taken several pictures of Mongolian gentlemen which he had mailed onto his colleagues in the Yard.  They had been able to confirm the identity of some of the individuals and were currently checking out the others.  It would appear that all that was now lacking was proof of the connection between the Mongolians and the London gang.

None of this had brought them any closer to finding Sherlock.  John and Lestrade had returned to Baker Street and were trying to decide what their next move should be when John’s phone pinged.

<Prospect of Whitby>

He showed Lestrade.  “Well I wouldn’t mind a pint” was the reply.

They were part way through the pint when Sherlock appeared.

“You’ve lost your visitors from this morning then,” John said.

“Clearly, since I am on my own.  I’ve been making enquiries along the river and can provide you with the addresses of most of the buildings being used.  And Lestrade, I suggest you arrange to bring this gentleman in for questioning.”  Sherlock passed over a slip of paper with a name on it.  “He masquerades as a Buddhist monk, but quite obviously isn’t.”

“How can you tell?”

“That’s one of the reasons I suggested we meet at this pub.”

Lestrade and John looked blankly at him. 

Then Lestrade said, “Please tell me we’re not looking for a vampire.”

“What?  No, nothing as ridiculous as that Bram Stoker story.  One of discussions of the Synod of Whitby was regarding the correct tonsure that the monks should have.  In this case our Buddhist monk has too much hair.  Now, if you two have finished your pints I would suggest we make a move.
