Friends Old and New

smallhobbitMonday I was able to meet an old friend, who I'd originally met due to the Sherlock fandom, and whose parents live in Gloucestershire. She was one of the last people I met up with pre-lockdown, when I went to see Uncle Vanya in London and then finally, after two and a half years, we've been able to meet up again.
We met at Robinswood Country Park, not far from where I live. Here's a view looking across Gloucester towards the cathedral:
Not that we spent much time looking at the view. Instead we sat in the café and chatted for nearly two hours. It was lovely to be able to catch up with her.
Then today I met up with two new friends. They're both members of the Shedunnit book club, and when one was singing in the choir for the week in the cathedral, she suggested meeting with anyone in the area. I instantly jumped at the idea, and another lady who lives towards Oxford also liked the idea, so we met up at the cathedral:
And went for lunch. Again we spent a good couple of hours, chatting, getting to know each other and talking about our favourite detective novels. An excellent way to spend the day.
And here is a bonus 1974 London Fire Brigade fire engine. There was a wedding in the cathedral and the bride and bridesmaids had arrived by fire engine.
