Paper Mosaics

Wednesday afternoon I went for a Dare to Dabble session where we were making paper mosaics.  An easy craft, with a rewarding result.

We began with choosing a picture we wished to use as inspiration:



Having chosen a gecko, I traced it so I had an outline to work on:



After which I selected some craft papers:



Cut them into small squares:

   

And glued them into the outline:



After which I added a suitable background:



Then, since I had some time left, I used a picture from some wrapping paper and tried slightly different shapes for the background:

It was fun - easy enough to do and I was very pleased with the results. The gecko was fun, particularly working out how best to differentiate the various parts.

The paper mosaics are a brilliant idea, especially as you can choose any kind of paper you want to create the tiny squares. Both the gecko and the sailboat turned out extremely well.
