The Friday Five: Work
May. 7th, 2023 03:20 pm1. What is your work/school commute like?
I'm retired, so I don't have one. However, I still volunteer two mornings a week which is about a ten minute drive away. Slightly longer if I get messaged to buy the milk on the way in.
2. What did you want to be when you grew up? Has it changed?
Astronaut/computer creator. Sciences are not my strong subject, so I stayed with the number side and went into finance.
3. What is your weirdest work/school/project related story?
One place I worked whenever we went from one building to the next we were chased by a pheasant. And then another place I worked the squirrels threw things at us and ate through the telephone wires.
4. What is something you're closely familiar with that media always gets wrong?
That the finance people always want to prevent things from happening. I'm always happy to spend money, providing it's there. They're rarely responsible for the policy which decides on the importance of items. At least as treasurer, I get to say whether we've got money and if we have then I can approve the spending (with my fellow trustees).
5. Describe the stuff on your desk/workspace.
Laptop, pile of notebooks, scrap paper for notes, diary, important paperwork, pens/pencils, crochet Holmes.
