Short Trip to Wales

We had an overnight stay in Wales this week.  On the way down we called in to see the sea at Llanelli Beach:

but the sea had gone out.  We had a blowy walk along by the beach anyway.

The following day we visited Aberglasney Gardens, where we've been a few times before

   

There are a lot more flowers in bloom than we have 



   

Masses of snowdrops everywhere



Not to mention the croci

   

And these lovely iris reticulata (dwarf irises, only about 4 inches high)

Hellebores! I have my first one in bloom here today.

Yes, they were pretty. Round here the snowdrops are just considering whether they will come out or not.

Cobwebs were definitely blown away, and the flowers were pretty.

lovely! we have snowdrops and hellebores, but not crocus or iris reticulata yet.

We have a few brave snowdrops but nothing else yet. I've never seen iris reticulata - they're very pretty.

Very pretty! Looks like you got some sun, too, in patches!

It is. It was very overcast when we were down by the sea, but in the gardens the weather was quite reasonable (for the beginning of February!)

I love the sheer gothic moodiness of your photo of Llanelli Beach! You also took some beautiful pics at Aberglasney Gardens. I think the first two are my favourites, though it's wonderful to see all those flowers in bloom.

I'm not sure it felt very gothic like on the beach - more cold and windy and 'let's get back to the car'. I'm very pleased you liked the pics from the gardens. The flowers really are lovely, but benefit from being seen in person.
