Like Bob, Ella features in 20,000 Streets Under The Sky, both in The Midnight Bell and in The Plains of Cement, which shows more of Ella's backstory.

Ella watched Bob as he undertook his tasks, his mind clearly on other things.  She sighed, wishing he would give her some of the attention he poured on Jenny Maple.  Ella wasn’t envious of the presents he gave, she’d have been quite happy to have gone for long walks with Bob, visiting the parks and window shopping.  As it was, she currently had to deal with the attentions of Mr Eccles, who she supposed her mother would consider a good catch, but who she just thought slightly creepy.  She returned to her own tasks, for the pub was opening soon.
