As Watson and Holmes grow older inevitably they begin to think about retirement and so I moved them into a village in Sussex. It began with a few fics and has since grown into its own 'verse with many recurring characters, including Mrs Maiden who is their new housekeeper and Seth the gardener. The time is frozen, there's no hint of the First World War which will bring grief to almost every village in England and elsewhere. Sussex Retirement

There are many things I might question about my life, but one of those I never question is retiring to our Sussex cottage with Holmes. He has his bees and the continuing mysteries which he encounters. I have my garden, an excellent friend in Seth our gardener, a veteran of the Afghan wars, and other friends who I meet regularly in the Red Lion. We have both been drawn, almost imperceptibly, into life within the village which remains a never-ending source of entertainment. Finally, Hopkins and his family are now our neighbours since the inspector has joined the local constabulary.
