 stonepicnicking_okapi reminded me about this, so I thought if I was going to take part this month, I needed to get on with it.  So, seven books I own, no caption, no comment.  Happy to answer questions in the comments.

It takes a few chapters to really get into it, but it's definitely worth reading.

The first half of the third volume of Memory, Sorrow, & Thorn, a fantasy trilogy by Tad Williams. It's not even that I don't like it, it's just that the older I get, the harder I find it to struggle through books the size of bricks that I would have sailed through when I was in my 30s, devouring them hungrily. Now, when I pick my book up to read myself to sleep, I'm lucky if I get through 2 pages before I'm nodding off.

I set it aside for a couple of weeks to read the latest Charlie Parker novel, and had no trouble reading that at 450 pages but this one...

I've been reading it since last year and I'm only halfway? There are SO MANY plot threads, and SO MANY characters to follow *sigh* And when I get through this one, there's still the other half of the volume. The publisher had to split it in two because it was so big. So that's another 800 or so pages...

Reading fanfic has clearly spoiled me, my attention span is not what it was.

I wanted to post in 7 days, and as we're away for a couple of days next week, I thought it was time to start. It’s probably the strangest book I shall read this year!
