Jersey under occupation

smallhobbitWe had a full day tour around Jersey looking at a number of the sites of the German occupation.
The island was surrounded by concrete bunkers as the Germans were expecting an Allied invasion (which never happened).
Inside the bunker and view looking out:
We also visited one of the main German look out points
And got to climb up the iron rungs (I was proud of myself for managing it) to view the periscope
This is the view from outside the building
From there we went onto the war tunnels, which, although constructed were never used. Inside there are displays showing various ways the islanders resisted.
This final photo was taken in the Jersey Museum which has various documents, including newspaper reports of the liberation
