which of course means craft night at Brownies.  But first a brief summary of what we've been doing this half term.

Our first meeting back was a few days after Thinking Day (February 22).  There was the customary start of (half) term chaos, since we had five new girls plus one transfer from another pack.  So just as numbers seemed to be falling they were on the up again.  It was also the last week for our oldest Brownie, since she had decided it was time to move onto Guides.  We shall miss her.  She'd been with us for three years and as she'd grown up she'd been a real asset with the help she'd given the younger Brownies.  But she was definitely ready to move on to new challenges.

Since it had been Thinking Day we settled on an international theme.  We had games based on different countries, pretended to be in an aeroplane etc. A few months ago [livejournal.com profile] owlbsurfinbird had sent me some American Girl Scouts pencils, so we handed one out to each girl at the end of the evening.  The girls were all really pleased to be given them.

Last week was Adventure Book night.  About once a term we encourage them to find something within their Adventure Books to complete.  As usual, one girl found something interesting and they all copied her.  This time it was a list of 10 things to find a different member of the pack to write their name against: has a sister, was a Rainbow, wears glasses, is left-handed.  It worked very well to encourage them to learn a bit more about each other.  We have girls from four main schools, plus a few different ones, so most don't know each other before they join us.  We finished by playing Pink Knickers and Fishes.

Yesterday we had an enrollment for the two girls who joined at the beginning of the year.  But before that we made our Mother's Day present.  A little pot, filled with earth and two pansies pushed in.  Quite simple and surprisingly not very messy, due to the clever placement of plastic bags.  And rather effective.  My mother will be thrilled.Brownie flowers
