Holiday - Expect the Unexpected
May. 25th, 2016 10:47 pmFirstly, it is not recommended to break a glass when doing the washing up just before leaving to go on holiday. You will then spend time running round finding plasters five minutes before you are being picked up. Fortunately the cut was clean and healed rapidly, but we could have done without the drama.
Anyway we successfully said goodbye to Dover:

and following an overnight stay in Metz, we crossed the Rhine into Germany:

where several service stations were being expanded and therefore closed to coaches. Which meant we needed a detour for a comfort break. We stopped just outside Baden-Baden, and where there was a motorway church. Since we were parked in the church car park a number of us went to look round the church, and I'm so glad we did, for it had some amazing stained glass.


After which we headed onto the village of Strobl on the Wolfgangsee, about 45 minutes drive from Salzburg. And found we had a circular bed in our hotel room:
