The second half of the meme I began four weeks ago:

21. How many times do you usually revise your fic/chapter before posting?
It depends, normally when I've finished I'll read something through, maybe a couple of times, and then leave it until the next day when I'll read it again.  Of course, if it's been out to beta, more because I do the aforementioned read throughs before it goes and then have to repeat the exercise once it's back.

22. Choose a passage from one of your earlier fics and edit it into your current writing style. (Feel free to make suggestions).
Not so easy, the past was then, the present is now.  But if anyone wants me to have a go, please make a suggestion.

23. If you were to revise one of your older fics from start to finish, which would it be and why?
See the answer to the above question.

24. Have you ever deleted one of your published fics?
Not that I'm aware.

25. What do you look for in a beta?
Someone whose writing I like and who I think will be in sympathy with my style.  I have different betas for different fandoms, and an American beta specifically for the few American fandoms I write in.

26. Do you beta yourself? If so, what kind of beta are you?
Yes.  I'll do basic SPAG if necessary, although I only beta for people whose work isn't riddled with mistakes, but we all make the odd error which we don't spot.  I Britpick and will happily Britpick for someone who has another beta for SPAG, plot and characterisation.  I'll say if I have problems with the sentence construction, on the basis if I'm confused it's quite possible other people will be too.  I have a very visual mind, so I will point out if, say, characters are getting into bed but haven't apparently left the lift.

27. How do you feel about collaborations?
I've done a few, but generally they arrived accidentally.

28. Share three of your favorite fic writers and why you like them so much.
Codswallop and ImpishTubist both on AO3, because I like their characterisation.  And MirithGriffin, also on AO3, for XO, because it's hilarious.

29. If you could write the sequel (or prequel) to any fic out there not written by yourself, which would you choose?
I wouldn't.  I've occasionally expanded on ideas, with the author's permission, but style is often as important as content and that I wouldn't want to copy.

30. Do you accept prompts?
Yes.  Every year I write 12 ficlets for the 12 Days of Christmas, all of which are prompt based.  And sometimes I'll do something part way through the year.  So, if anyone has something they'd particularly like to see, prompt away, and then wait patiently ;)

31. Do you take liberties with canon or are you very strict about your fic being canon compliant?
That varies as to what I'm writing - I don't recall any mention of Mrs Hudson's broom cupboard in canon.

32. How do you feel about smut?
Generally it bores me.

33. How do you feel about crack?
Pooh/Piglet, French pot/kettle, Hot air balloon POV.  Do I need to go on?

34. What are your thoughts on non-con and dub-con?
I generally avoid fics which are tagged as such, apart from the occasional tentacle sex.  I received an excellent fic as part of [livejournal.com profile] acd_holmesfest where it was clear this was happening, but the point was the prevention of the act. I've occasionally touched on non-con/dub-con when writing casefics.

35. Would you ever kill off a canon character?
Generally no, although I have killed both Holmes and Watson in old age.

36. Which is your favorite site to post fic?
AO3.  Everything, apart from an odd drabble ends up there.

37. Talk about your current wips.
My Lucas/Adam fic now has two chapters done of the three I want, but I've little idea as to what's going to happen in the third.  Watson 1918 has stalled, but I will get on with it at some point - I'm not feeling any urgency.  I've just started a new series of ACD ficlets, At the Drop of a Deerstalker, for which I aim to write one a month.

38. Talk about a review that made your day.
Anything which says I've made someone smile or laugh.

39. Do you ever get rude reviews and how do you deal with them?
Not normally.  There have been a couple of times when I've felt the reviewer has missed the point, but my favourite remains the Lewis fic which apparently didn't conform to canon - I was at a loss as to how to reply, since both Lewis and Hathaway were rabbits for parts of the story.

40. Write an alternative ending to [insert fic title] (or just the summary of one).
Can we just settle on the alternative ending to The Hobbit, where Thorin and Fili and Kili live.
