Summary: What it says on the tin

Mrs Hunt was spending the week with an old school friend who had recently moved to Bridlington.  

So on Monday Gene had cold meat left from the Sunday roast together with some potatoes which he had fried, only burning himself slightly on the fat.

On Tuesday it was time for his DI to take him out to eat, and they went to a curry house.  The meal wasn’t bad and even better Tyler hadn’t decided to talk to the radio.

Wednesday saw them at the Golden Dragon, where Sam showed off his ability to eat with chopsticks and Gene used a fork, having no wish to chase grains of rice with two pieces of wood.

Thursday there was a darts match, so they had pie and chips on the way.  The gravy stain on Gene’s tie contrasted nicely with the egg yolk from the breakfast buttie he’d had that morning.

Friday, being Friday, was fish and chips, which they ate out of the newspaper in Sam’s flat.  Gene spilt vinegar on the carpet and then dropped some of his mushy peas and trod on them.  When Sam tried to complain he pointed out that they didn’t really show anyway.

Saturday they had a picnic.  To be more accurate they were on a stakeout, so had a pork pie and a couple of cheese rolls in the Cortina.  Sam had brought a tomato as well, but after he’d dropped it and it had rolled underneath the seat neither of them felt like eating it.

Mrs Hunt returned home on Saturday afternoon, so on Sunday Sam was invited round to dinner, which was roast beef, Yorkshire puddings, roast spuds and veg, followed by apple pie and custard.  Then for tea there was both fruit cake and Victoria sponge as well as sherry trifle.  Mrs Hunt was of the opinion that Sam needed feeding up and Gene was happy to keep him company.
