smallhobbit: (Lewis Hathaway)
Which was nearly Singing Up, but fortunately I spotted my error.  Just as well, none of you want to put up with me doing that.

I had thought of doing a post to ask whether I should sign up for a couple of things, but then I realised that I'd be very disappointed if you all said "don't do it" so in the spirit of "it's Monday, let's try and make myself late for work" I went ahead.

Because I've clearly got nothing to occupy my brain: just a couple of short episodes in the Unexpected Family 'verse that I've half promised people I'll write and a fluffy thing that came to me on the drive to work this morning and has half remained.  Whether the words will make sense once they're typed out is another thing entirely, but we can hope.  And then there's the [livejournal.com profile] acd_holmesfest entry that needs writing and has the first two sentences in my head.  I'm working on the idea that if they stay there for a while when I come to type them out the rest will instantly flow - no need for volunteers to shoot the flying pigs.

So, anyway, I signed up for [livejournal.com profile] spook_me which is a multi-fandom Hallowe'en ficathon.  Any length from drabbles upwards are allowed, so naturally I signed up for both Sherlock and Lewis.  This will be quite a challenge for me, because I like everything to make sense and be logical, which is the opposite of this ficathon.  I did write an ACD Holmes ghost story last year - the opportunity of swirly mists was too good a one to miss - I put in something that couldn't possibly have happened - and I was still trying to work out how to make it plausible.

And then I signed up for [livejournal.com profile] smallfandombang which is a Big Bang, with a minimum of 10,000 words.  My first, and only, Big Bang was for Life of Mars, a couple of years ago, when I just managed the 12,500 minimum and I vowed never to write a Big Bang again.  Since then I've written a couple of fics this summer for challenges which when finished were around 6,500 words, so I don't think it will be a problem. And unlike Sherlock casefic, where there has to be a link that only Sherlock can make, I shall be writing Lewis casefic which means a logical plot where things have to make sense.

I suppose I had better go and open a word doc.
