Time for a Review
Aug. 9th, 2014 11:09 amTwo months on from last time I looked at my goals, so time for a review.
Goal 1 - Write all the things. I'm pleased with the progress here. Writing for
comment_fic continues to prove entertaining. I've written a couple of Father Ted drabbles (never anticipated that), and Blackadder. It's also given me the chance to write some more thoughtful pieces, as this one, with the prompt "we are the granddaughters of the witches you were never able to burn":
Suffragettes
You may wait for us in dark alleys to beat us for speaking up; you may seek to throw us in rivers to drown our words; you may force us to eat when we choose to starve to death for our beliefs; you may cheer your politicians who speak against us; but our voices will be heard. Like you we are people and we demand the vote. You tried to burn our grandmothers and you wish to incarcerate us but they survived and so we will. And our granddaughters will continue to defend their rights and speak out against injustice.
I've also found
fan_flashworks thanks to
draycevixen. This is giving me the opportunity to tackle some of the fandoms I'm interested in and take a few days working on a particular prompt, rather than needing to produce something within an evening. It doesn't have to be long, drabbles are sufficient, and since there's only ten days there's not enough time to worry. All of which is ideal for me as I start to get a feel for writing the characters. And look at the shiny:

Goal 2 - Attended another PCC meeting. Didn't volunteer for anything! Meetings are relatively short and generally cut and dried. Which is good, except that it makes me wonder why I'm bothering to go. Four more meetings and then I can decide whether to stand again.
Goal 3 - Learn some German. I found a free Open University course, supposedly taking six hours. I shot through the first of six units in about 15 minutes, so clearly I do have some basics. I shall aim to finish this before I do another review.
