But apparently it is.  Today we celebrated Burns Night - slightly late, but since none of the Brownies were aware of when Burns Night was this didn't really matter.  The girls designed their own tartans.  Some produced some really good designs, very effective and one was practically dayglo. Others weren't so sure what they were supposed to be doing - despite being provided with examples.  But they seemed happy, which is the main thing.  We do seem to be working our way through glue sticks at a surprising rate.

And then they made a simple badge with a thistle on it.  And yes, one of the Brownies managed to put the thistle head upside down on the body.  We did a quick repair job - it was only thin card, so fortunately not complicated.  We helped affix a safety pin to the back of the badge.  Our gallant Brownie pinned the badge on upside down.  There was no such trouble with consuming the shortbread we had at the end.

Last week we held another enrolment, for five more new Browies.  There were proud mums, a couple of proud dads, a granny or two and a scattering of sisters.  And one Brownie for whom no-one came.  We were pleased that the girls had learnt their promise and on the whole said it very confidently.  One was less sure, but it was clear she had tried and it was only because she was so nervous.  And for all of them, what they lacked in accuracy they made up for with enthusiasm.
