What I'm Watching
Jul. 11th, 2015 10:39 amFirst off, the new Sherlock trailer. It had some funny moments - Una Stubbs continues to be a brilliant Mrs Hudson - but I felt some initial disappointment. This is not a Victorian Holmes - too many glaring anachronisms. To me this is a spoof. I expect I'll watch, although whether the things which make me laugh for 30 minutes can be extended to 90 is another matter. There will be a lot of hype - the cynic in me says this is because the BBC have to sell it as widely as possible since it's a big earner for them, nothing to do with how good it is. Best description - another Marmite programme.
Person of Interest is back on Channel 5. Not next week for some reason which is okay as I'm away, but a double bill promised for the following week. For those of my flist who aren't UK based and only watching UK broadcasts, we're about half way through season 3. I'm a 'crime of the week' sort of person, so less taken with the way the programme is going, but still enjoying all the interactions, especially between Shaw and Fusco.
And then there's Hannibal. Again part way through season 3, only a few days behind the States. I'm finding it quite slow, with too much in the way of dreamlike sequences. And I wouldn't have minded more shots of Florence. It may be it was always like this and because I watched the first two seasons on DVD I could fast forward some of it. Looking forward to seeing the Red Dragon.
Lastly we watched an episode of Foyle's War earlier this week - SM has watched for the last few weeks. I'm mentioning this episode in particular because Andrew Scott was in it. Really enjoyed seeing him in the part - tragic and yet so self-contained.
