We started our break in Yorkshire at Bridlington, which is on the coast.  It managed to rain quite a lot of the time we were there, but the sun came out the day we left.

We visited Sewerby Hall, which was originally owned by a local family, but is now in the possession of the local council.  The rooms have been set out as they would have been about 1910.  I've no pictures from inside, because it felt more like a museum than a home (many of the pieces are on loan from the V&A), and for various reasons I'm not a great fan of the Edwardian era.  It does have some lovely gardens though.

And some beautiful bushes.  The one on the right is a Weigela, and I instantly decided I want to have one in our back garden.

They also have a mini zoo, with penguins.

From there we went to Flamborough Head and saw all the seabirds nesting on the cliffs.  I did a couple of sketches, but failed to take any photos.

It managed to rain quite a lot of the time we were there, but the sun came out the day we left. And there, ladies and gentlemen, is every British seaside holiday in a nutshell ^___^

Sewerby Hall does look very striking from the outside. And I love their gardens - and penguins ^__^

Love the penguins, which I don't normally associate with Bridlington... Glad you're having a good time!

Ok! I can ask you. What are those wooden(?) things that are placed down the beach called? Why are they there?

I when I was scanning some part of the coast on google maps and noticed they were just about everywhere. We don’t have those on our coast lines.
