New Activities/Writing - Month Two
Jun. 25th, 2019 05:05 pmOnce again my something new won't be until the end of this week, ie the end of the month. This weekend I'm going up to London because The Daughter wants to see Joseph & His Amazing Technicolour Dreamcoat on Friday evening. (It's opening on Thursday, the day after her birthday, and therefore a sign we should go!) She's heading back to Coventry Saturday morning, but I wanted to find something to do to make the most of my time in London. Then I received an email telling me about The Great Exhibition Road Festival a three day festival celebrating the spirit of curiosity which was seen as the Great Exhibition of 1851. It's organised by the museums situated in Exhibition Road, together with a number of other institutions found there. So I've booked a couple of free tickets for talks, made a note of some other things I'd like to see/do, and will be going there for the day.
Writing-wise I've joined
crossovercoffee which led to me writing something Tigger Holmes and the Case of the Unexplained Soldier which is off the wall even for me.
whatif_au had Celebrity as its topic: The Author and the Poet again a new theme for me. I've signed up for
raremaleslashex which I've written a pinchhit for, but not signed up to before. I've also signed up for a 'Choose Your Own Adventure' 5K fic, which has to include at least two divergent points, which should be interesting as I've not tried anything like that before. I'm using my 1920s Adam/Lucas 'verse, as that should give some obvious points where decisions need to be made. And finally, I'm signed up for
story_works Harlequin Big Bang, which again will be more of a stretch as it's 5K. I've decided to go with the Hobbit Regency AU I began last month (The Owner of Erebor Hall) which should be ideal for the prompt. All I need to do now is actually write!

Date: 2019-06-25 05:23 pm (UTC)I can't help thinking I'd enjoy fandom even more if I had any taste at all for for AU. Well, I do enjoy a spot of plot divergence and "everyone now has a soulmate but everything else is still the same" type but not the full-on version.

Date: 2019-06-25 05:42 pm (UTC)It's only in the past couple of years I've enjoyed AUs - I started writing them and found some of the AUs really stick. Some I write more as an exercise. And I've always been a fan of the total crack side of things.

Date: 2019-06-27 06:07 am (UTC)Tigger and the Winter Soldier was certainly not an expected combination! But it makes a funny kind of sense*g* Really liked The Author and the Poet!

Date: 2019-06-27 07:41 am (UTC)I was trying to use as many of the prompts as possible with the Tigger story - I was aiming for a funny kind of sense (most of the Tigger Holmes stories are like that, if not quite as off the wall!). I'm delighted you liked The Author and the Poet - I enjoyed writing something slightly different.
