Thank Goodness it's the End of the Year

I am extremely grateful. With Doodles continued unavoidable absence I have led the last five weeks. And to make sure everything was up to date, and I could award badges, I've also been battling the girlguiding website, which is not the most intuitive, or logical system.
In order to earn the Theme badge, a Brownie has to have completed the five challenges for their skills builder, one of three specificied interest badges (done at home) and 4 hours of unit meeting activities. Inevitably different girls miss different parts, so last week we ran a catch up week. As I said to Flamingo (leader-in-training) 6 tables, 24 Brownies, what could possibly go wrong?
Flamingo took the group who had missed the week she ran Top Trumps. I arranged tables for three other missing skills, all of which I'd originally led. Fortunately one girl didn't come, so I could drop that table, and two confident sixers ran the other two activities for me, because they'd already done it. I ran two tables doing a unit meeting activity (we spread over onto the table which wasn't needed for a skills activity). And the final table? The previous week I had shoved all the items which are split between the sixes (pens, pencils, rubbers etc) into one bag - each six has its own bag - and one girl from each six sorted and repacked the bags - they really enjoyed themselves.
Which brought us to yesterday. We began by choosing the Theme for next term: I set out various badge books so they'd get an idea about what each theme involved, and they voted by standing by the theme they wanted. Then we went outside for games - for the first time we've been able to get outside, it wasn't raining and the funfair wasn't set up close by.
We finished by awarding various badges: one for participating in the 'Grow Guiding' challenge

Some interest badges, and for those where we hadn't had time to order the badges, a splendid certificate Flamingo had made, and lastly eight theme award badges, which recognise the hard work on the part of the brownies (and the leaders!)

And then finally we flew two of our Brownies up to Guides, watched by their parents. This is not something I've done before, but some of the girls had seen it happen at pack holiday, so we based the event on their description. How accurate it was we'll never know, but our two leavers were happy, which is all that matters.
