Last week we continued to do Be Well activities.  We began learning how to react if there's a fire, which involved an obstacle course: crawling under the parachute (for smoke), touching the back of the handle to the cupboard (how to see if a room is on fire), climbing over a table (using a ground floor window if you can't access the doors, and rolling on the ground (in case clothes are on fire).

After which they played a ball game and then I did an activity which involved rules and the positive reasons why rules exist: for safety, to protect things, to enable a group to work together.

This week was the first of our catch up weeks, so that those who've missed a skills builder get to do it.  Doodles took the Brownies who were making Mindfulness jars, Flamingo took the ones who Being Active (which TD had led) and I took the rest to discuss being team players which included writing positive things about the other members of their six.  We finished with a cycling safety game along the lines of Simon (or Screech Owl) says.

Three of the Brownies have passed their Dancing badge in the last couple of weeks.  One provided a written account and the other two arrived with short videos of the dance performances on their parents' phones and the badge signed off by their dance teacher.

We awarded three Brownies with their Be Well theme badge, which means they have completed all five skills builders, four hours of additional activities and done a relevant interest badge at home.  When the new programme began I did have some doubts (and there are still areas I'm not keen on), but the girls seem to enjoy doing it.
