Snowflake Challenge - Day 15

And here's Day 15: In your own space, create your own challenge.

We're going to Prague this October, so, you've guessed it, I'm starting to learn some Czech.  Five minutes a day on Duolingo probably won't get me very far, but it can't be any worse than the Hungarian.

And since the idea of this challenge is to challenge others, my challenge to anyone who wants to accept it is: Consider a longer term goal (in my case, going to Prague) and take a small step towards achieving it (learning a few words in Czech).

Good on you for your language learning. I think I read somewhere that language learning is especially good for the brain. And I know you'll have an amazing trip even if you can only manage 'thank you' and 'where's the loo?'

I've had all the challenge I can take today but I'll tuck the thrown gauntlet for the future.

One of those days, then! I tried to make my challenge suitable for all sorts of occasions.

I'm doing a similiar thing wiht Japanese. I have a two week holiday books in October, so I'm trying to do a few minutes on Duolingo every day to see if it helps.

That's great! Have a wonderful time in Japan - I'm sure learning a bit of Japanese will help you :)

It's weird. It all feels vaguely familiar, but I seriously doubt my ability to retain any of it.

But when you're there you might well find things connect a bit more.

This I can do!
I started teaching myself Japanese a year and a half ago for a job. I turned down the job and kinda stopped learning. I think I'll pick it up again. And maybe brush up on my Korean too (I know intermediate Korean!)

Prague is one of my favorite cities in the world! I hope you have a fabulous trip! (Also IMO very few things are as hard to learn as Hungarian! I think I made it to 10 whole words by the end of our holiday in Budapest, and I’m usually good at languages!)

Thank you. We're looking forward to it. Yes, I could recognise a few words when we were in Budapest which helped but that was all.

I do like booking a holiday in January. It gives something to look forward to in the tedious greyer months. And thank you.
