Peter Pan Goes Wrong
Feb. 29th, 2020 08:01 pmA few weeks ago I had a phone call from The Daughter, asking if I'd like to go to see a play with her this week. I said I'd already arranged to see a play on the Friday with friends in London, but could come up on the Thursday and would use up some annual leave and miss Brownies. Which is what we arranged I would do - take the train to Coventry on Thursday (not arriving too early as she was out to lunch with work friends) and then get the train from Coventry to London on the Friday.
Three years ago we'd gone to see The Play Which Goes Wrong at the Belgrade Theatre in Coventry and this is another of the same sort. (UK flist may like to watch The Goes Wrong Show on iplayer). In this play anything which can go wrong will go wrong. Yet it isn't cringeworthy, but just hilarious. There is slapstick, but it's very well done, and the audience is left with an appreciation of the timing of the performers. And most of the time you don't anticipate what's going to happen, so it really is very funny.
As you will gather, TD and I thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. It was also good to catch up with her. And the light bulb for her bathroom arrived the day afterwards! ('You'll have to take your phone with you when you use the bathroom, so you can see when it's dark'!)

Date: 2020-03-02 05:02 pm (UTC)(UK flist may like to watch The Goes Wrong Show on iplayer) I really must give this a whirl. I always say, "Oh, I must try that!" and then I never get round to it. But I must this time - it sounds like exactly my sort of thing ^__^
Also callously enjoying the image of poor you navigating the bathroom by phone light ^___^ I'm glad you and your daughter had a good time together.

Date: 2020-03-02 05:06 pm (UTC)I think you would enjoy The Goes Wrong Show.
I should point out that TD did put a new light bulb in on the landing, which at least meant I could get up and down the (narrow and steep) stairs without needing my phone.
