We had two more days out on Monday and Tuesday, making the most of the time I wasn't working.

Monday we visited White Castle in Monmouthshire, where, true to tradtion, it was murky.  Apart from the castle walls, not much remains of White Castle, but it was still interesting to wander around it.

On Tuesday we went to Hereford, and the sun shone on our visit to the cathedral.

There is some gorgeous stained glass:

The picture on the right is of a small side chapel

And my favourite window:

And here's the composer Edward Elgar:

I'm glad you had a chance to do some more exploring. I know nothing about White Castle, so I appreciate being able to see pictures of it. There may not be a lot of castle left, but the ruins are quite beautiful. Speaking of beautiful, your photos of Hereford Cathedral are gorgeous! I love your photos of the stained glass windows, especially those first two, though I can definitely understand why that one window is your favourite. :-)

That last stained glass kind of looks like our Children's Chapel.

Elgar!

It's not exactly the same, more the feel of it/the movement.
I can't find a picture of it, but this video has it as the background. Starts around minute 2

Wow, the stained glass is impressive! The castle ruins give me pangs of the past ~ knights and so forth. Glad you're having a rewarding break!

The bare bones of a castle can be more interesting than the more intact ones, you get to use your imagination with them. Hereford cathedral looks lovely, the stained glass windows are gorgeous.

I love the Merrily Watkins thriller series set in that area. Thanks for the images to go with the books!
