Yesterday's Dare to Dabble session covered both Batik and Tie Dyeing.
The batik began with a cloth stretched over a frame

To which the pattern was painted using melted wax

This was then painted with fabric paints

These were dried with a hair dryer, before being ironed between sheets of newspaper to remelt and remove the wax.

Tie dying began with a piece of cloth, tied up with elastic bands, which was then painted

Once the elastic bands were removed the pattern was revealed

I had to add a bit of yellow paint to both finished pieces, as I had missed areas originally.
