Again about 7K words for the month, bringing the total for the year to 41K.  Revising my annual goal down to 100K seems sensible (from 135K).  Looking back over the past few months I can see I was regretting the lack of words, so I think the time has come to accept that other activities are taking over, and that from now on I will just do the few challenges/exchanges I really enjoy, and use at least some of my creative brainpower in writing grant applications/grant reviews which need to appeal to the audience as much as fics do.

This month [community profile] ushobwri has had its New Frontiers challenge and it turns out I shall have completed two things for that.  The first was in response to [community profile] fan_flashworks Shout Challenge, for which I wrote A Trip to Tenbury House for Keeping Up Appearances.  And the second is my [community profile] intoabar response for Lucas North (Spooks) meets the Prince (Swan Lake - Matthew Bourne), a pairing I had not written - or anticipated writing - An Unexpected Encounter.

I wrote a ficlet in my Sussex Retirement series Annie's Disappointment for [community profile] ficlet_zone and then, since it was [personal profile] stonepicnicking_okapi 's birthday, I wrote The Ferret's Adventure in celebration.

Finally, here is an original poem written for [community profile] fan_flashworks Clock Challenge

Written in Haste!

The clock by my bed shrills to me to get up
The clock in the kitchen says I can have one more cup
The clock in the bathroom yells I lingered o’er my tea
The clock by the front door screams time I should flee

The clock in my car is still set to GMT
‘Cos changing the time is by far beyond me
The clock at the station says that all is not fine
The trains are all late for there’s leaves on the line

The clock in the office has hands which seem slow
I keep looking and longing for the time when I can go
The clock on the church tower reminds me that I’m
One amongst many, a victim of time

But now that I’m home again at my clocks I shall scoff
It’s over for ever, because, guess what, I’ve clocked off!
