Painting with Plants

I went to Dare to Dabble yesterday afternoon, and we were painting with plant material.  Either printing leaves or using sticks etc as brushes.

A selection of the plant material, plus my tile loaded with acrylic paint:

   

We began by experimenting to find out the possibilities:



After which I created 'Hidden Grove'



And 'Puffin'



After which I painted on stones: Sea Creature

   

And Mouse

   

Good fun, and yes, I did get paint halfway up my arm!

I think Puffin and Sea Creature are my favourites. It looks like it would be fun.

Thank you. It's very easy to do - all you need is acrylic paint and some plants. You can paint the leaves and use them to print with, and painted flower heads creature the speckled appearance - examples are with Sea Creature.

Yes, you do need acrylic paints. I suppose you could try out with other paints, but you want something which will stick to the plant material sufficiently to be used.

I think I've only got watercolours. Ah well, I have enough to do as it is.

Thank you. I've put them outside as decorations in our garden. Being acrylic paint they should keep their colours.
