Marquetry

This month the craft at Dare to Dabble was marquetry.

We began with some pieces of different colour wood veneer, some metal templates and a cutting board:



and cut out a thin strip of veneer as the first step:



After which we cut out the shapes we would need for the picture on our card from the different veneers:



These were then laid out on the cutting board



before being glued onto the card



After which I cut stalks and leaves freehand



I was pleased with the result.

The dates for the autumn classes were released earlier this week, so I promptly booked myself in for those I'm available for.

I've never tried marquetry before. It looks like a really fun and satisfying process. I love the way your craft project turned out. You made great use of the different colour wood veneers.
