Fannish Fifty: Writing Challenges

Most of my fanworks are fanfic which are produced in response to writing challenges or exchanges.  I've therefore decided to provide a list of challenges, in case anyone else is interested and also to remind myself of my interests.

fan_flashworks Three challenges each month with a strict deadline.  Every second month the third challenge is an Amnesty.  There are badges to earn.  Any fandom, or original and any form of fanwork, so includes art and craft.

drabble_zone and 100words weekly multi-fandom prompts for drabbles (100 words) and Drabble_Zone allows double drabbles.  Both have amnesties every ten challenges.

holmes_minor ACD Sherlock Holmes, monthly prompt although other works are encouraged providing they are the original Holmes, although AUs are allowed.  Maximum wordage 500.  There's also a poetry prompt every month.

whatif_au New AU every two months, multi-fandom.  I wasn't a fan of AUs until I started writing for this community.

allbingo New subject every month, sometimes two themes.  Multi-fandom. Either use the card provided or create your own, any size from 2x2 to 5x5.

ficlet_zone Monthly prompt, mid-month alternates between Song Titles and Episode Titles for a named group or programme.  Multi-fandom.

small_fandoms Occasional prompts of a varied nature.  Only for fandoms with a small number of works, exact details varies by challenge.

story_works A few challenges each year of a varied nature.  Multi-fandom.

no_true_pair 8 characters get to meet each other with a prompt for each pairing.  There's also a mini 4 character challenge.  Annually, posting in September

intoabar crossover where a character from one fandom gets to meet a character from another fandom (nominate between 1 and 4)  Runs late spring

eventcentral Irregular challenges, multi-fandom, sign up and be allocated a prompt.  The last two were wildflowers and cocktails.

seasonsofdrabbles multi-fandom drabble exchange runs four times a year. Single, double and triple drabbles or combination.

yuletide_admin A 1,000+ word exchange for smaller fandoms.  Sign ups about the second week in October.

spook_me multi-fandom Two pictures are allocated per participant for a Hallowe'en challenge. Sign ups early September

And lastly, although not a writing challenge community ushobwri has a couple of challenges during the year: February is for completing WiPs and May is the New Frontiers challenge to try something new.  There's also a Monster Fest in October, but that's as much chatting as writing and then there's support in November for NaNoWriMo and other similar challenges.

Wow, that's a lot of comms! Thanks for the links. I have participated in some of them in the past back on LJ but then never found them again on DW.

I was thinking about what I do and thought I would list them - there are a lot, but many are for drabble/ficlets, or they accept them, so the time commitment isn't that great. And also some are annual so again they don't take too much time.
