Water Colours

smallhobbitYesterday the Dare to Dabble session was on water colours.
We began with a palette with four or five colours plus art paper attached to a board:
The first thing we did was experiment with wet on wet - paint water on the paper and then add paint which spreads into the water but no further - and blowing little puddles of paint across the paper using a straw.
Then we created a Splatter Monster, using the blowing technique, with sticky dots where the eyes were to be
And here is the finished Splatter Monster:
Finally, we were given a picture of a duck to trace and then use the techniques we had learnt to produce a picture. Everyone else painted a standard duck with a coloured head and a suitable background. However, we were told we could use our imagination, so I went with a slightly different duck
And here is King Duck complete with background and finished waistcoat:
