One of the things I enjoy writing, especially for drabbles and ficlets which require a quick short response is domestic fic set in 221B. Holmes and Watson, sometimes Lestrade and/or Hopkins as visitors, fairly often on the warpath assisted by her latest maid, all great fun to write about.

It was early evening and Watson stretched out his legs before the fire. He felt very contented. That morning Holmes had solved a case and they had gone out for a late lunch at Simpson’s to celebrate. The ‘accident’ with regard to the tablecloth had been resolved to Mrs Hudson’s satisfaction and she was unaware of the scorch marks on the curtain. No patients were currently demanding his attention. Holmes was peacefully pasting items into his commonplace book, humming as he did so. Watson would enjoy a relaxed evening, with his pipe, a glass of whisky and a good book.
