When we left Chester we went on to Llandudno for a few days and from there we took the bus to nearby Conwy to visit the castle.

Conwy Castle was built by King Edward I between 1283 and 1287 to keep the Welsh in their place.

   

   

We went up some of the towers, with their spiral stone staircases, holding onto the rope handrail, I took the second photo below from the top of one tower looking over at husband on top of the neighbouring tower.

   



And I now have another dragon - meet Grindal

Thank you - yes - one day I'll take a photo of the whole family! The castle was very impressive and the weather, on the whole, was good - cold but sunny.

I enjoyed Conwy Castle when I went in July, although it left me wishing I didn't have my stone spiral staircase phobia (no handrail, no way. I swear I fell down one in a previous life).

They're not the easiest to negotiate, especially when you meet someone coming the other way.

Oooooh! I LOVE your photos of Conwy Castle! Visiting this castle is definitely on my UK bucket list. I recently listened to some podcasts on the Hundred Years' War (I'm a history nerd), and Edward I's conflicts with France were mentioned.

Grindal is really sweet! I'm glad your other dragons have a new member of the family! :-D

Aww hello Grindel. They're very cute. Conwy Castle looks amazing - a proper castle, not like Nottingham where I grew up :D Really glad you had good weather for it.

Thank you - as soon as I saw Grindel I knew I had to have them. Conwy Castle is impressive and, as you say, not like Nottingham, which is where I went to uni.
