Llandudno

We spent a few days in Llandudno.

It was beautifully sunny the day we arrived, so we took the tram up the Great Orme, which is a limestone headland, 679ft (207m) at its summit.

   

   

We then took the tram half way down and walked down the second half

   



A couple of days later, when the weather wasn't as good, we visited the Happy Valley Botanical Gardens



   

We found the Elephant's Cave, but the only creatures we saw inside were some sheep

   

Here's the bardic circle, created for the 1963 Eisteddfod



Later that day we walked partway along the promenade and briefly on the beach



You can see the pier in the photo and a couple before I had taken a picture from the end of the pier towards the town

Looking at this makes me realise there's still so much I haven't seen in Llandudno - I did the Great Orme in July but not the gardens and cave, and I'm sure there's some Alice in Wonderland statues I haven't seen (the cat took a bit of finding, I'm sure others would as well).

The gardens are worth visiting, as is the museum, if you haven't seen it.

Once again, you've taken some beautiful photos! :-D I agree with stonepicnicking_okapi about the incredible skies! The Great Orme seems like a wonderful place to visit, especially considering the views. The Happy Valley Botanical Gardens also look like they're worth visiting. I love your photos of the Elephant's Cave and the bardic circle.

Thank you again - I'm delighted you like them. We were very fortunate the day we went up the Great Orme - the weather was good so we decided to make the most of it, in case it changed later. The Botanical Gardens were also well worth visiting and we were glad we'd seen them.

Those are gorgeous pictures and yay on decent weather in Wales :D Is the Elephant Cave called that for any particular reason - did they find a fossilised elephant?

Yes, we were so pleased with the weather - especially as earlier in the week rain had been forecast. I've no idea why it was called the Elephant Cave, there's no indication of any fossilised elephants, just the very living sheep.
