Today's Challenge is to talk about what has improved in your life thanks to fandom.

That has to be the number of friends I've made.  Some have moved on, but I remain friends with them.  Some I see in real life, some I only ever contact via the internet.

Because of those friends I've read some different books, and learnt about life in different parts of the world - not just the bits which are featured in the news, but the more mundane everyday lives which most people live.  I've received more cards than I would have received, for Christmas, birthdays and at other times.  And I've shared good times and bad times.

Without fandom, the Ferret would never have strutted his stuff on the stage, and werewolf!Lucas would have missed out on all the parties.

…and some are online, then accidentally book the same theatre performance:-p
You are definitely one of my fan-related improvements :-)
And…no Ferret? Unthinkable!!

I've seen a lot of posts so far about friends. I'm so glad that for as toxic as it's become, fandom still has the power to connect people.

Because of those friends I've read some different books, and learnt about life in different parts of the world - not just the bits which are featured in the news, but the more mundane everyday lives which most people live.  I've received more cards than I would have received, for Christmas, birthdays and at other times.  And I've shared good times and bad times.

SAME.

Adorei sua entrada. Acho que fandom sempre significou amizades para muitos que viviam reclusos na IRL, já que online muitas vezes podemos ser alguém que não conseguimos ser em qualquer outro lugar.

What a great post. Online pals are worth their weight in gold.

The people we meet through fandom, and the ones who become great friends, are a treasure worth the interactions we have with them, even if it's now "had" instead of "have."

Sending cards and letters to our loved ones MUST be brought back alongside the old-school blogging culture, it MUST. As for me, I've got (as of now) a little free time to read, yeah, just not the desire or brain capacity... aight.
