New Frontiers Challenge

ushobwri held a New Frontiers Challenge - write something you've not written before. I wasn't sure what to write so asked for prompts. One was for a pirate AU, which I tackled with a Sherlock ficlet. Which I might take further, since a few of those who read it were kind enough to say they liked it. Needless to say it didn't go in anything like the direction I initially expected.
And also
fengirl88 suggested I write something from The Rake's Progress or a similar production I'd seen. I was enthused and wrote Shadow's Surprise. I went to post it on AO3 and discovered not only was this fandom a new frontier for me, it was a new frontier for AO3. I was rather excited, and even more excited to return a couple of days later to find the fandom has now been formally assigned to Theatre, under the full description of "The Rake's Progress - Stravinsky/Auden/Kallman".
Yes, it is slash: Tom Rakewell/Nick Shadow, but since Auden and Kallman were lovers I hope they approve.
There are now two works in that particular fandom. Shadow's Choice has the idea of a Regency morality story and was written purely because I felt like it.
And at least I can say I am continuing with my goal to "write all the things".
