Revisiting a Meme or Two
Aug. 10th, 2017 05:46 pmI'm having a few days away next week, but in the meantime it's fairly quiet, so I thought I revisit a couple of memes:
Firstly, because it was fun last time I did it, so I thought I'd have another go:
1) Make a list of fifteen characters first, and keep it to yourself for the moment. I have done this!
2) Ask your f-list to post questions in the comments. For example: "One, nine, and fifteen are chosen by a prophecy to save the world from four. Do they succeed?", "Under what circumstances might five and fourteen fall in love?", "Six and thirteen have an argument, whose side would eleven be on." So, please ask.
3) After your f-list has stopped asking questions, round them up and answer them using the fifteen characters you selected beforehand, then post them. Answers will be posted in early September.
What’s your first and second most common work ratings?
General - 320 (223)
Teen and Up - 217 (171)
Still no surprises.
How many fics have you written in each relationship category? Is this more accidental, or do you have preferences?
Gen - 264 (194)
M/M - 247 (181)
F/M - 30 (25)
Other - 2 (2)
F/F - 1 (0)
So basically, proportional increases. Other are dinosaur/dinosaur and pot/kettle.
What are your top four fandoms by numbers? Are you still active in any of them, and do you tend to migrate a lot?
Sherlock (BBC) - 176 (156)
Sherlock (ACD) - 121 (79)
Spooks - 60 (32)
Lewis - 48 (45)
I've written a lot more ACD than BBC Sherlock this year, and the BBC fics I have written are outside the latest series. And Spooks has overtaken Lewis, which I really only write for the various Lewis Challenges.
What are your top four character tags? Does this match how you feel about the characters, or are you puzzled?
Sherlock Holmes - 234 (184)
John Watson - 217 (167)
(Greg) Lestrade - 172 (147)
Stanley Hopkins - 61 (?)
Mrs Hudson - 60 (49)
Lucas North - 59 (?)
Expanded to six, because this year numbers 4 to 6 were very close. Again the top four are split between two fandoms but are still my major characters.
If we look at the top six relationships, they are:
Sherlock Holmes/John Watson - 37 (25)
John Watson/(Greg) Lestrade - 32 (32)
Adam Carter/Lucas North - 29 (?)
Sherlock Holmes/Stanley Hopkins - 28 (18)
Sherlock Holmes/Greg Lestrade - 20 (19)
Guy of Gisborne/Much - 20 (?)
My choice of relationships has changed over the year, with Lestrade without any new relationships.
How many WIPs do you have currently running on AO3? Any you don’t plan on finishing?
Last year I had six, of which two just weren't marked as finished. This year there are only two: Mouselet - Special Correspondent and More Ferret Tales. Strangely the previous Mouselet's Monthly Column and Ferret Tales were two of the WIPs.

Last summer I did an AO3 meme, so I thought it would be interesting to repeat it, having gone from 400 works to 543. So without more ado (2016 numbers in brackets):What’s your first and second most common work ratings?
