Last week was World Book Day, and since most of the Brownies had worn costumes to school they were allowed to continue wearing them to Brownies.  Several from Harry Potter, various Alice in Wonderlands etc, even a Golden Ticket from Charlie and the Chocolate Factory.  They played a book quiz: Which came first the book or the film?  And made bookmarks.

We finished with an enrolment for four new Brownies.  One of the girls was so upset, because she thought she wouldn't remember the promise, despite our reassurances that the whole pack would say it with her, that Flamingo and I had to take her hands to lead her round.  She managed to say her promise very quietly as we all said it.  I'm delighted with the other girls because, although there were a few curious looks, none of them made any comments, they're a very supportive group.

This week we did the final explore skills builder - talking about a visit to a city.  And then we made some cardboard snow goggles, which were theoretically quite easy, but required careful cutting and tying knots in wool ...

Ten girls who had completed all five skills builders were then presented with their badge.  We always run a 'catch up' week for those who've missed something.

I'm impressed by the variety of costumes that the Brownies wore for World Book Day. I think the World Book Day activities were really good too.

As someone who has anxiety issues, I really feel for the girl who was upset during her enrollment. It's wonderful that the whole pack was so supportive.

That final explore skills builder sounds really cool. It's great that ten girls earned their badges after completing all five skills builders. :-)
