Crafts - June 2021

The exciting news is that the hat I knitted for the daughter last month went up Mount Snowden two days ago!  I've started the identical hat, but smaller, for her niece:



I've also started working on a new throw - it's a knitalong with a new square pattern issued every week.  There are, I think, eight squares in total, which are repeated in number depending on the size of the throw/cushion being made.  The patterns are at week six - I've just started week four:

   

And here's the knitted elephant - the body partly sewn up. 



Because the daughter is now 30 (her birthday is today) I stitched her a bookmark:



And the bandstand at Tenby is making good progress.  I'm about two-thirds of the way through now.  I'll definitely be doing another in the series.



Other crafts are temari balls and zentangles, and I made an origami crane:

Wow, you've been doing so much!

The first hat is already well-travelled. I wonder what adventures the second one will have.

The cross stitch looks amazing, and I'm looking forward to seeing the elephant finished.

Kudos for the origami crane. I've done origami, but never a crane.

It's funny - some months I seem to do very little, other months there's plenty. I'm glad you like the cross stitch, I've been really pleased with how it's progressed this month. The poor elephant keeps getting put to one side as other things get done instead.

I like the variegated colors of the yarn and I also like the colors of the squares, the yellow and teals. And kudos to you on the origami. I can never get the folding right. Edited to add: nice to see the progress on the bandstand.

I thoroughly agree - it was one of the things I wanted to do more of :)

I wanted to do different shades on the throw, so those colours are the ones I've chosen, but I can use them in different pairings, and for monocolour squares as well. It was a youtube video for the origami and surprisingly easy to follow.

I think it's wonderful that your daughter wore her knitted hat when she went up Mount Snowden. The bookmark that you made for her is beautiful. Happy Birthday to her, btw! I have a good friend who is also celebrating her birthday today.

I love the knitted squares that you've knitted so far for that throw. It should look great when it's done! The cross stitch of the bandstand at Tenby is also coming along nicely!

I do like the bandstand at Tenby, and yay for daughter's hat conquering Mount Snowden, hope she had a great birthday. The throw looks nice too, I like the patterns and colours.

Thank you. It will need some back stitch to outline the bandstand when it's finished. I chose the throws colours so I could mix and match the squares.

The Daughter had a great birthday, horse riding, playing crazy golf, eating ice creams and finishing with a barbecue.

Yes - and it was in use rather sooner than I expected. I always said I wanted the time to do more craft once I was retired, so it's nice to be able to do so.

Whoo crafts! I like the heart squares. And been catching up on your last month or so and see that you are busy with the Brownies. I can imagine it's challenging to keep finding things to do remotely. Do you know yet if you'll be going back to in person meetings in the autumn?

I like the heart squares too - I have five more to do, and now I've found some plant ones to compliment them.

Yes, Brownies by zoom is becoming harder as we go on. Given this evening's announcement we should be back to in person meetings in the autumn - although I won't hold my breath. We really want to go back.
