There was a Dare to Dabble session this morning in which we made a magazine bowl.

First, there are strips of magazine, pre-cut which saved a lot of time, which you can see underneath the selotape:



These strips had to be folded in half lengthways, opened out, the two outer edges folded in to meet at the middle and then the original fold was refolded.  Which gives the lower strips, a quarter the width of the upper ones.  Three thin strips are then attached end to end.



The long strips are then rolled up together, a new one being joined in once the previous one has been rolled, to look like the paper strip equivalent of a rolled up tape measure.  It was quite an art taping the next strip on without letting go of the roll.



Finally the sides were gently and carefully pulled up to form the bowl.



The bowl can then be covered in PVA glue so it keeps its shape.  This bowl is about 8cm (3") across and took a couple of hours to make.
