Quilling

Yesterday's Dare to Dabble was a Quilling afternoon.  I've done it once before, a couple of years ago, when I used a very basic shape to make Christmas cards, today had a spring theme.

We began with quilling paper and tool, size chart and some glue:



And practised making various basic shapes - round, tear drop, eye and leaf (although my leaf looked more bird-like)



I then made a number of heart shapes, but sticky two tear drops together,



Plus a larger round shape, pushing it out slightly:



To form a daffodil:



Then, using a special shaping tool:



I made a leaf, to complete my daffodil Easter card:



Lastly, I made a silly card, which I will give to my mother for her birthday:

Thank you - I was pleased with how it worked out.

Everyone in the class thought my smiley face was funny. Mum's on an end of life pathway, so anything to make her smile will be good, and there's not much else I can do for her.

You were a recipient of one of my earlier attempts - it's good fun, basically easy (it can get complicated if you want, but that's not essential), and I may do more, some day.

Yes, it was fun. The tutor was quite happy I had a bird rather than a leaf. So long as we enjoyed ourselves and came out with something we were happy with she was pleased.

Your daffodil card is amazing! I love what you've managed to accomplish with the quilling. Additional kudos for your silly card. I'm sure your mother will get a kick out of that. :-)

Paper quilling looks really beautiful, and yours turned out lovely! Love the "tool" you used to shape the leaf - sometimes "simple" is really the best way to go! :D Sounds like a fun lesson.

Quilling does produce some pretty results from basic shapes, which is great. It was a fun afternoon.

Thank you very much. I've certainly made progress from last time I did this. It's rewarding in that an afternoon can produce something suitable to give away.
