As
winterpear remarked, there is a theme to a lot of my book reading, because I am a great fan of crime novels, and particularly those of what has been termed the Golden Age of crime (the inter-war years) because I like the plot and the solving of the crime, rather than a lot of introspection and violence for the sake of violence. So I do also read modern crime novels in the same vein, reserving my copy at the local library as soon as I see the book marked as 'on order'.
At the same time I also like to read more widely, rather than simply indulge my personal fannish love, which is why
kingstoken 's wonderful book bingo card is such a great idea. Several of the squares will be filled with crime novels, but others definitely require something else.

Two squares can be replaced by substitute categories, see below, plus two can be used as additional free places, so if there are some categories which really don't work then it's still possible to complete the card.
As last year, I have a set of reading lists which I shall be aiming to read one book from each month:
A: Books from my library TBR
B: Books recommended by Shedunnit members (also library)
C: Books on my physical TBR pile
D: Books of different series (this year Sam Wyndham (Mukherjee), Bradecote & Catchpoll (Hawkswood), Gervase Fen (Crispin), Needlecraft Mysteries (Ferris)
E: Shedunnit book of the month
F: All others, which includes six library reservations, plus three pre-orders
I've just signed up to read 75 books again this year on Goodreads. Looking at my pile of books, I'd say about two-thirds will fall into the crime mystery category - sounds good to me.
