The final 'verse I'm sharing is one of my favourites, The Ocelot Tales and its offshoot the Marylebone Monthly Illustrated. The Ocelot, curator of the Tales and editor of the MMI, began life[community profile] sherlock60 back in 2012, when the idea was to write a 60 word ficlet for each of the 60 Arthur Conan Doyle Sherlock Holmes stories. This was my second go through and I decided as a theme that every story would be written from the viewpoint of an animal.

The Ocelot himself first appeared in the initial round in July 2012, in response to the Veiled Lodger:

“I see you made mention of the lighthouse and the trained cormorant,” Holmes commented one morning.

“You said I had your permission to do so,” I replied.

“You did indeed. But you omitted the ocelot wearing a tutu.”

“I felt the former two were sufficient for the purpose. And to be fair, the ocelot wasn’t directly involved in the case.”

Over time various other creatures have joined the staff of the MMI and I plan to introduce them next week.

The Marylebone Monthly Illustrated is a very popular local periodical.  As editor, the Ocelot likes to ensure it remains relevant to all sections of the population, so not only are various local events covered by regular correspondents, but also short articles are included from the pen of Dr Watson.  There are the usual small ads, and the advice column seeks to resolve a variety of problems.  The Ocelot very carefully vets the Letters to the Editor, and the editorial is always thoughtful and positive.  A monthly subscription is recommended to ensure being one of the first to read the news.
