The Ferret arrived three years later in May 2016 as the result of a discussion which began with The Speckled Band and involved various contributions from scfrankles stonepicnicking_okapi and debriswoman which can be found here and came to fruition in Ferret Tales  Since when he has continued to snack, remains unlucky in love though bouncing back rapidly, and has indulged in various theatrical activities.

The Ferret is responsible for all the small ads, as well as births, marriages and deaths, and situations vacant.  The content has to be carefully scrutinised before going to press as he is not always too careful about ensuring the entries are in the correct section.  In addition, some of the copy is frequently covered by sticky pawprints, rendering it ineligible.  The Ferret also doubles as the periodical’s theatre critic and reviews of his own productions are full of lavish praise, with the critic claiming, ‘Our favourite song and dance mustelid has once again excelled in his latest leading role.’
