The Queen is not interested in the Prince at all.  Her only concern is to the way the palace is run and her own likes.

Her son seemed to be saying something to her, but she turned away, there were other matters to deal with and she didn’t have time for his whining.  She snapped her fingers, and a servant was by her side ready to obey her instructions without a second’s hesitation.  If only the Prince would do the same.  He continued to seek her attention, but she strode away from him, smiling to greet various dignitaries being presented to her.  The Prince’s wants, as if he could want for anything, were meaningless compared with her goal of maintaining the continuation of the dynasty.

That poor little boy so needed a hug. And the grown-up prince couldn't get past that need either. You present the mother's coldness very clearly.

The Swan is beautiful, but it's the Prince who breaks your heart.

I absolutely *sobbed* when I saw it at Sadlers Wells many years ago. Great, heart-wrenching sobs. I've never experienced that at the theatre before - somehow the dance bypassed my brain and went straight to my heart. Where are you going to see it?
